Pastors Phil and Rachel Corbett moved to Corrigan in 1985 and pioneered the First Assembly of God Church. Called to the ministry at age 5, it was at the age of 12 years that Phil assisted his pastor, Elmer E. Weeks by tearing down an old church building in Corrigan. He pulled nails and stacked lumber that was to be used in the construction for a new church being built in Lufkin, Texas. It was because of this experience that God later spoke to him to go back and build a church in Corrigan. At the age of 23 years, he and Rachel moved to Corrigan to live his childhood dream.

Pastor Phil believes that the promises of God are true and there must be an outpouring of the Glory of God upon the earth before the return of Christ.

       And the Lord said..."But as truly as I live, all the   

       earth shall be filled with the glory of God."

                                                        Numbers 14:20-21

As the result of a powerful touch at the Pensacola Revival in 1996, the congregation in Corrigan began to fast, pray and prepare for a move of God to begin in their small community. For ten years, they have readied themselves for what they knew must happen.

Little did Pastor Phil know that his vision was far smaller than the destiny God had prepared for them. He believes that if God can move in Corrigan, then He can move anywhere. If He can use them, He can use anybody.

On October 31, 2004, God gave Pastor Phil what he had been preparing for.  To date, visitors from more than 26 different states and 11 foreign countries have come to the little town of Corrigan to drink from the fountains that have opened up here.

The vision of Pastor Phil has two facets: 1) to win his city for Jesus, 2) to encourage pastors and others involved in ministry to live their dreams and to fulfill their God given destinies. His desire is to show East Texas a church like they have never seen; a church where people really can work together; a church where the pastor really does love the sheep and sheep really can love their shepherd.

Pastors Phil and Rachel have been married for 23 years and have four beautiful daughters, Amy, Bethany, Heather and Jessica.

Phil Corbett came into my life purely as a Divine intervention!  He has been a source of encouragement and challenge to myself as Pastor and River of Life Church.  We touch base each week by phone and I keep him updated on our progress.  I personally have been praying for revival for over twenty years.  This is only one of many things that we learned we have in common.

Pastor Phil brought a ministry team into our church for two days.  They poured out their hearts of love and compassion upon a hungry people.  They ministered to everyone in our church and touched the lives of many people with a hunger for revival.  The seed has been planted and now it is up to a people to reach out and receive revival.

If you were to put a picture beside the word "Passion" in the dictionary, I believe Phil Corbett's photo would be a great representative of the that word! He has demonstrated an unquenchable desire to make the Holy Spirit feel at home in his life, ministry and church!   I will never forget the night when Evangelist Andre van Zyl prophesied over him that he had been so hungry for revival and had traveled much in search of true revival. He went on to say that he would not need to search anymore because revival was surely coming to his church and people would travel near and far to experience this revival! In 1 Chronicles chapter 28 King David is speaking to his son Solomon concerning the building of a house for God. In the 19th verse David says, “All this I have in writing from the hand of the Lord upon me, and He gave me understanding in all the details of the plan.”  We believe that just as God gave David understanding in all the details of the plan for the temple, He has given Pastor Phil Corbett understanding of the details of God’s plan for revival in the church of today.

Due to his whole-hearted dedication to God and his seeking true revival we believe God is raising Pastor Phil up to be a leading revivalist in the church at this time. We believe that God has given him a plan for revival and is continually showing him strategies to birth higher levels of revival in the hearts of everyone seeking a touch from God.
